Team BUD racing’s Jacky Vimond and Brian Moreau travelled to Slovenia and after a 20 hour trip, they finally arrived at the impressive track which was well prepared and a hard pack surface typical from South Europe.
The practice session and qualifying race on Saturday went according to plan and Brian Moreau took fastest lap honours by more than three seconds from his rivals to win the qualifying race.
For Sunday races, the weather was good and the conditions remained perfect. Brian rode two very strong races and took the top step of the podium both of the motos. Despite several mistakes in the first race after a mid-pack start and small crashes he finally finished the race in first position by posting the fastest race lap in the penultimate circulation, a stunning four seconds faster than all the rest of the pack !
The second Moto went well with a hole-shot and Brian comfortably leading all the laps to win again.
April 12 will be the next event for Brian in France with the second round of the French 85cc championship while the next Euro 85cc “south” race will be in Italy on 2 May.
Brian Moreau declared : “ I was very happy to go to the race with the staff of the team and they took care of me very well. The KX85 runs perfectly and I felt very comfortable and confident all the week-end.
I had lot of fun when I had to push really hard to win the first moto and when I hole-shotted the pack in the second race, I could do a big triple jump in the first lap. In fact it was a big jump that only the 250 and 450 bikes were doing ! Of course I will keep focus for the second race in Italy and will continue to train hard”.
