28 May 2012 Buchan blitzes blazing Snetterton

MSS Bathams Kawasaki rider Danny Buchan once again brought home the silverware in Norfolk taking his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R to second place in the Superstock 1000 race at a sun-drenched Snetterton 300 circuit.
Having re-joined the MSS Bathams Kawasaki at Oulton Park, Danny’s run of form on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R continues and after securing a strong second place in the Snetterton 300 race, Danny is now in second spot in the championship – just seven points behind the leader.

With blue skies and constant sunshine helping the track temperatures creep into in the 40’s, Danny lined up in fifth place on the grid – something that his blistering pace in morning warm-up promised would be improved upon.

A cracking start saw Danny breaking clear of the Superstock pack alongside Jason O’Halloran and Keith Farmer. With Danny tucked in behind Farmer, O’Halloran made the most of his opportunity, opening up a three second lead before Danny could fight his way past Farmer’s Kawasaki. Once clear, Danny chipped away at O’Halloran’s lead, but it proved too much and with his mind on the championship, Danny settled for solid second place.

“I got a good start and it was all a bit ‘elbows’ mid-race but I spent too many laps dealing with Keith Farmer, which allowed O’Halloran to escape. I got under Keith but he dived back and it took me another lap to get him behind me again and make the break. Once I did that, I got my head down and tried to chase after Jason.

“I was gapping the people behind but I couldn’t make a dent in O’Halloran’s lead and eventually I made a bit of a mistake which helped him escape even further. I think the closest I got was about 2.5 seconds, so I was in my own little race for quite a few laps, just trying to keep focused. I ended up reminiscing about last year’s Snetterton race when I was behind Richard Cooper and made it hard work for myself again. This time I definitely had the tyre, I just couldn’t close the gap on the leader.

“This weekend was a good race for the team and myself – we have more podiums and are now second in the championship by seven points, which is great. I know it’s early in the season to start thinking about the title, but after last year I know that every point is vital.”
