10 November 2011 Gearlink Kawasaki unveil 2012 rider line-up

Gearlink Kawasaki has announced that both Ben Wilson and David Jones will ride for the team in the 2012 Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship.
Ben Wilson from Kirton near Boston missed winning the 2011 championship by a single point on his Ninja ZX-6R and is determined to go one better in 2012. With nine wins, seven second places and a brace of other rostrum finishes from 24 races, Ben was hardly off the podium in a hard fought and enthralling season. The fans favourite will be aiming his sights on further improvement this coming season in a bid to clinch a championship that is close to his heart.

David Jones joined the New Forest based outfit towards the end of last season and instantly gelled with bike and the team. He too will be looking to make substantial progress in 2012.

Ben Wilson – “I am delighted to be riding for Gearlink Kawasaki again next year. This will be my fourth year with the team who are a pleasure to work with. We know what we have to improve on this time and why we didn’t quite manage to win the championship last season. I have unfinished business in Supersport and really want to win the title."

David Jones – "It’s great to be able to run the Gearlink Kawasaki for 2012. We can carry on where we left off and secure some good results. I am going on a private test in December which will give me a head start for the new season."

Michael de Bidaph – Team Owner and Manager – "I am really happy that we have managed to re-sign Ben for 2012. We had a couple of meetings last week resulting in him remaining in the team for another year. Obviously we were disappointed that Ben missed out on the Championship last season but he intends to rectify that in 2012.

We are also pleased that David has re-signed for another year. He shows promise and will no doubt come on in leaps and bounds with the guidance of the team throughout the new season.

For Kawasaki Motors UK, Racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge, welcomed the news saying:

"Gearlink Kawasaki performed admirably in 2011 and their commitment to the coming season with such an impressive rider line up shows how strongly they feel about the Supersport class. With the work they have put into developing the Ninja ZX-6R it would be a brave person to bet against them in the coming year”
