Diagnosed with terminal cancer, Hucklebridge was determined to add to the funds of Forever Friends, a charity that raises money for the Royal United Hospital in Bath, where Mark receives treatment.

Between chemotherapy sessions, Mark has successfully competed in a half marathon, hosted a fund raising event and auction at his local Marshfield motocross track and even been one of the four playing members of the MJ Church team at the golf event.

Brainchild of former Grand Prix motocross mechanic, Richard Metcalfe, who is manager of the Technical Department at Kawasaki Motors UK, the golf day attracted teams from across the south and west of the UK and, most especially, in the area around Chippenham where Mark and family are based.

Including a charity auction of one of Mark’s Kawasaki KX500 racing machines on the prize giving evening, the event raised £10,000 in total.
Presented by Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors UK, Howard Dale, to Mark Hucklebridge and “Big Ted”, the mascot of the Forever Friends appeal, at the annual Dirt Bike Show in Stoneleigh, Warks, the profile of Mark’s charitable efforts has been raised even further.

Howard Dale commented, “Kawasaki has a long association with Mark Hucklebridge and when we heard about his illness and desire to raise funds for the Royal United Hospital we considered what we could do to help. Richard Metcalfe is well known in the off-road community and, with support from others at Kawasaki and the likes of Pete Plummer, Tim Chambers, Dave Thorpe, the Church family and Matt Bates, the event was justifiably popular and really enjoyable. We were delighted that it raised £10,000 and we wish Mark all the best in his new venture Friends of Huck that raises money for injured motocross riders.”

Mark Hucklebridge added, “It was a great day, everyone enjoyed themselves and to raise such a huge sum is brilliant. My treatment is ongoing and it’s nice to give some support for the Royal United Hospital and the fantastic work they do.”
