Running a standard electronic control unit (ECU) across the entire field for the very first time, the 2012 season promises to be among the most closely fought ever with the racing machinery owing more than in previous years to its showroom counterparts.

“We tested a machine that conformed to the new rules in actual race conditions last year at Donington Park and the results were very encouraging” claims Team Principle of the Kawasaki Motors UK supported MSS Bathams Kawasaki squad, Nick Morgan. “There are numerous advantages, but chiefly this returns superbike racing to its routes by eliminating aids such as expensive after-market traction control and gives manufacturers a chance to link bikes on track with models for sale in showrooms”.

With such a depth and breadth of talent representing Kawasaki in BSB, the opportunity for success at a variety of tracks – and in diverse conditions – is a very real prospect according to Racing Coordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge.

“Michael Rutter re-joins Kawasaki for this season and he is justifiably revered as a canny reader of race conditions. Joining him will be another Kawasaki returnee in Peter Hickman who has proved a master of the more standard based Superbike machine with some impressive 2011 rides.

Add ex BSB and British champions like Shakey Byrne and Stuart Easton, plus the likes of Chris Walker and Gary Mason, and the Team Green talent pool is certainly going to be impressive”.

Mixing established household names with up and coming talent, the Kawasaki onslaught has great potential according to Team Manager of the Pr1mo Kawasaki squad, Peter Extance. “Ours is a good example of how BSB is looking to entertain now and in the future. We have a popular and established mentor in Chris Walker and the well-respected rising talent of James Hillier who many believe is a future podium candidate”.

Adding a final element of Gallic spice into the Kawasaki line up in BSB is former world endurance and French superbike champion, Freddy Foray who is keen to cut his teeth in the world’s most competitive domestic Superbike championship as Ross Burridge explains.

“The world’s top riders see British Superbikes as a legitimate place to compete at the highest level and generate the sort of interest that ultimately takes many to the world stage. Already Freddy is Tweeting about his testing results and looking forward to Easter when the series proper begins.

We are delighted that he and the other seven talented riders have chosen Kawasaki and created this amazing presence that will dominate one quarter of the BSB Grid”.
